Grating panels are typically made of metal, with carbon steel and stainless steel being the most common materials. Carbon steel grating is the most widely used option due to its high strength and excellent workability; when hot-dip galvanized, its corrosion resistance is significantly enhanced, making it suitable for standard applications such as industrial platforms, factory walkways, and municipal engineering projects.

 

Stainless steel grating, typically made from grades such as 304 or 316, offers superior corrosion resistance, making it particularly well-suited for humid environments, areas exposed to acids or alkalis, and marine engineering projects. Although the initial cost is higher, its long service life and low maintenance requirements make it a common choice in sectors such as food processing, the chemical industry, and offshore platforms.

 

In addition to metal, composite material gratings-such as fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) grating-are used in specialized applications. These materials are lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and non-conductive, making them ideal for use in the power industry, wastewater treatment facilities, and environments requiring electrical insulation. The choice of material generally depends on the operating environment, load-bearing requirements, and budget constraints.
